Sunflower is symbolic of a mother who adored sunflowers. Unfortunately, she passed some years ago and her spirit lives on. This piece was commissioned by her daughter's husband. "The Sunflower" is reflective of her mother's spirit; golden, resilient, vibrant, and living on forever.
I used a garden "U" stake to create the stipple effect which resembles the sunflower's seeds, a symbol of regrowth and of life.
The Sunflower has a presence in the morning, evening, and even at night time, as the gold reflects light and becomes visible in a low light setting.
